The Spanish transfer window is now shut and the word coming from Spain is that one of the biggest transfers of the summer wasn’t completed on time.
Radio station Cadena SER reported that the required documents did not arrive on time so De Gea is staying put at Manchester United and Keylor Navas will continue to play for Real Madrid. It’s a very anti-climatic end to this protracted transfer saga.
Assuming there isn’t another late twist and that said paperwork won’t miraculously go through, one would think that De Gea will see out the rest of his United contract rather than skipping town in January. So will he be reinstated as United number one?
That’s what every United fan will be wondering. And hoping, too. Sergio Romero had a bit of a nightmare at Swansea on Sunday and laid bare the goalkeeping problem at Old Trafford.
This development is reminiscent of the failed loan move of Fabio Coentrao to United from Madrid two years ago. Why on earth did they wait until the last minute again?
The documents did not arrive on time!!!!!! Presentation was ready. All agreed. But as it stands de Gea stays at MUFC!!
