Tottenham Hotspur target Victor Wanyama is set to stay with current club Southampton beyond this afternoon’s transfer deadline, according to Sky Sports.
The 24-year-old who has previously worked with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino during the Argentine’s reign as Saints manager two seasons ago, expressed his desire to quit the South Coast side with an official transfer request last week (read earlier story here).
Despite the Kenyan captain’s wishes, the Saints have maintained their stance throughout the summer that the midfielder would not be leaving St Mary’s during this transfer window.
It so now understood that any hope of Victor Wanyama leaving the club has now gone as he has this morning left the UK to join up with his national side.
Many reporters expect Tottenham to do the most business before today’s transfer deadline, but as of yet there seems to be no imminent news coming out of White Hart Lane with regards to new arrivals in North London.
