Real Madrid fans abuse David De Gea on Twitter following decision to sign new Manchester United contract

Such is the ying and yang of football that when one team is overjoyed, another is ultimately saddened.

Such is the case with David De Gea’s new Manchester United contact: while United fans are naturally euphoric with joy, Madrid are the big losers, and are feeling let down by De Gea’ decision to snub them.

And they’ve let him know in no uncertain terms, replying to his Tweet this afternoon with a barrage of abuse.

De Gea’s tweet about feeling proud to stay on with United while thanking the fans for their unconditional support was scoffed at by Madrid fans, who can’t understand how he’s jilted them at the altar.

Gareth Bale Fans, for example, ominously told De Gea that he’d ‘committed the biggest mistake of his career’, while Javier Gutierrez told him,

‘You’re a bottler and a coward, no surprise seeing that you came from Atletico.’

Carliuus, meanwhile, has a conspiracy theory, telling De Gea that he only signed with United because Del Bosque told him otherwise he wouldn’t be included in the Euro 2016 squad.

The other tweets featuring the word ‘puta’ should require no translation…
