Tottenham vs FK Qarabag: Player ratings

FootballTottenhamSportSAM LONG

Standard Sport assesses the individual performances from Tottenham's 3-1 victory over FK Qarabag at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.

Hugo Lloris: 6

A safe pair of hands. Far busier than he would have liked, but the France goalkeeper provided a reliable presence, as always.

Kieran Trippier: 5

Missed an excellent chance to usurp Kyle Walker. The right back endured a disastrous start when he conceded a penalty early on but recovered to provide an attacking threat on the right flank.

Toby Alderweireld: 5

The Belgian was solid in possession but struggled to contain Qarabag's quick passing interchanges. Wasted several headed opportunities from set pieces. Yet to fully convince.

Kevin Wimmer: 5

A solid debut for the centre back. He didn't do anything fancy, but he was composed on the ball and defended resolutely. A decent addition to Pochettino's squad.

Danny Rose: 4

Rose was very sloppy in possession but also made a couple of encouraging runs forward. Ben Davies should get the nod ahead of him against Palace after a below par performance.

Tom Carroll: 5

Has a chance to stake his claim given the injuries within Tottenham's midfield, but did not make an outstanding impression. Will need to do more to become a regular.

Eric Dier: 6

The Englishman continues to excel in midfield. Although he was caught out for pace once or twice, his presence has become important. Withdrawn with a knock.

Andros Townsend: 6

His effort could not be faulted, Townsend attacked his man and attempted to make things happen but his final product was found lacking. Will have been pleased to get minutes under his belt.

Dele Alli: 7

The youngster dazzled with several eye-catching pieces of skill. Will be knocking on the door of the England squad before long if his form continues.

Erik Lamela: 5

It didn't look like it was going to be the Argentine's night until his goal arrived late on. A fine finish cannot make up for a relatively flat display.

Heung-min Son: 7

A dream home debut. Although his two goals were on a plate, he had to put them away and will have been given a healthy dose of confidence.

Substitutes

Harry Kane: 6

The striker will have been diappointed not to get on the scoresheet but did claim a classy asset for Lamela's strike late on.

Clinton N'Jie: 5

It was pleasing the see the forward finally return to fitness, but he could not make a significant impact.

Harry Winks: 5

Introduced late on but did not have enough time to impress or otherwise.
