It was hard but Manchester United fans have come to terms with David De Gea’s departure to Real Madrid. Ceaseless speculation for months has helped, oddly enough.
But it’s still undoubtedly a blow for any club to lose their best player and it’s hard to argue that De Gea wasn’t United’s standout player last season.
Sergio Romero’s errors against Swansea on Sunday was a slap in the face for United fans. The goalkeeping situation needs addressing, they realised.
Perhaps the reality of the situation also finally dawned on Louis van Gaal.
With Keylor Navas on his way from Madrid, paperwork provided, United have an adequate replacement for De Gea. In fact, Real Madrid fan Vitaly thinks United are getting a good deal.
