Well, this was unexpected.
Victor Valdes appeared to have burned his bridges with Louis van Gaal after falling out with the Dutchman for apparently refusing to play for Manchester United’s U21 team.
This was despite actually appearing for them a few times last season, but that’s neither here nor there. For van Gaal, at least.
Valdes was excluded from the United first team and was being treated like such a pariah that it was actually annoying United’s Spanish contingent.
The former Barcelona goalkeeper looked certain to exit the club and came close to doing so when he was in negotiations with more than one Turkish team over the summer.
Those moves collapsed, but now it doesn’t seem all that certain that Valdes will leave after he updated his Facebook cover photo to the United crest.
Is this a sign of his renewed commitment to the Red Devils’ cause? Or is a move in the pipeline and is this simply his way of defying van Gaal one last time?
We’ll soon find out.
Victor Valdes just did this to his official Facebook page. Has @1victorvaldes and LVG kissed and made up? http://pic.twitter.com/ixnt1bdlzl
