Phillipe Coutinho scored a screamer in the 86th minute to give Liverpool their first win of the season against Stoke City at the Britannia stadium.
The drab game looked set to be headed for a goalless draw until Philippe Coutinho produced what is fast becoming a trademark long-range goal for the winner in the 86th minute.
New Stoke No. 1 Jack Butland stood no chance as the ball flew into the top-right corner.
On the final day of last season, Stoke ran out 6-1 winners in this fixture but there was no sign of that happening again.
It was a game of few chances, and a point apiece looked like being a fair result until Coutinho struck.
