Tottenham enter the race to sign Juventus target Axel Witsel [Telegraph]Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel according to reports from the Sunday Telegraph.

The 26-year-old is one of the Russian Champions’ standout performers and has been linked with a move to Europe’s top clubs during the past few seasons.

It is understood that Italian sides Juventus and AC Milan are very keen in taking the Belgian to Serie A before the transfer window closes on Tuesday, but Spurs are thought to be monitoring the midfielders situation closely.

The North London side are reportedly chasing both a striker and a midfielder before Tuesday’s deadline. Southampton’s Victor Wanyama continues to be heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane, and speculation has only heightened after the Kenyan captain was left out of the Saint’s squad to face Norwich today.

It is expected to be a busy couple of days for Spurs boss Mauricio Pochetinno who is understood to be desperate to add to his squad by Tuesday.
