Tottenham transfer news: Pulis still won't rule out Berahino departure

West Brom manager Tony Pulis has refused to rule out the possibility of Saido Berahino leaving the club before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old has been the subject of two bids from Tottenham but both of the north Londoners' offers for the England Under-21 international have been rejected.

Baggies chairman has Jeremy Peace told Spurs chairman Daniel Levy that the forward is not for sale, while Berahino's transfer request has also been rejected.

Son Heung-min's arrival at White Hart Lane on Friday has thrown Berahino's potential departure into even further doubt, but Pulis confirmed that he is still unsure whether the striker will be at the Hawthorns next week.

"I don't know. We'll have to wait and see," he said on Friday afternoon. "I wasn't in the discussions that the chairman had with Saido yesterday. I've not seen Saido since. We're training this afternoon and I'll have a chat with the lad when he comes in.

"I'd never say never to anything until it's closed and factual. It's not just about football, it's about the person and it's about the lad. It's about what he's going through and what he's not going through.

"He's not just a lump of meat that people are throwing around. He's got emotions and we're trying to protect him," Pulis insisted.

The Welsh manager has been critical of the fact that the transfer window is still open even though the season has started and he is adamant that the rules need to be changed to avoid uncertainty in the future.

"The transfer window should close and then the season should start. Then we wouldn't have all this stuff going on. It's obviously been disruptive for all concerned."
