Jeremy Corbyn Voted to Recognise Arsenal as the 'Best Team in the World' in 2004

Labour leadership candidate Jeremy Corbyn backed a parliamentary motion to recognise Arsenal as "the best club football team in the world" in 2004.

Corbyn has served as a Member of Parliament for Islington North since 1983, and the motion, which was made toward the end of Arsenal's historic unbeaten season in 2003/04, read like so:

That this House believes that Arsenal is the best club football team in the world at the moment and admires them for the fluency and poetry that they have brought to the beautiful game.

Corbyn, who is currently the favourite to succeed Ed Miliband as Labour leader, was one of only four MP's to back the motion.

Arsenal fans just love a vote, don't they?
