‘I’d rather a drunk Aaron Lennon than Erik Lamela’ – Tottenham fans react to disappointing 2-2 draw with Stoke City

Argentina international Erik Lamela has been singled out by some of the Tottenham fans following their 2-2 draw with Stoke City this afternoon.

Spurs, who lead 2-0 at the interval, squandered their advantage at White Hart Lane when goals from Marko Arnautovic and Mame Biram Diouf saw Stoke City claim an unlikely point in North London.

Harry Kane was substituted after 70 minutes with what manager Mauricio Pochettino later confirmed was ‘tiredness’ rather than injury. Lamela would replace him.

But with the winger failing to make any impact on the game – he scored just 4/10 in our player ratings – Spurs’ lead would crumble.

Taking to Twitter at full time, many of the Spurs fans vented their frustrations, with Lamela coming under fire.

The 23-year-old has divided opinion in the capital since arriving from Roma three summers ago for club-record £30 million following the sale of Gareth Bale, while the likes of Aaron Lennon - the club's longest serving player - is left to train with the youth team.
