West Ham United striker Diafra Sakho was arrested by police last Thursday following allegations he attacked a woman, according to the Daily Mail.
Sami Mokbel of the MailOnline reported the Senegal international was arrested just days before the Hammers began their season in style with a 2-0 win against Arsenal on Sunday.
Included in Mokbel’s piece is a statement from the police: "The 25-year-old was arrested on Thursday, 6 August at an address in Emerson Park, Hornchurch. He was taken to an east London police station and has been bailed to a date in late September.
"Officers from Tower Hamlets have arrested a man on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and malicious communication."
As noted in Mokbel's article, West Ham declined to comment on the matter.
Sakho turned out to be one of the very best signings in the Premier League last season. The forward was a revelation for the Hammers after joining from FC Metz, scoring 10 goals in 23 appearances in English football’s top flight, per Mokbel's piece.
The 25-year-old started the season at the point of the attack for new manager Slaven Bilic and played a key role in West Ham’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal. Next up for Sakho and the Hammers is a clash at the Boleyn Ground against Leicester City on Saturday.
